Paying $0.07 per GB does seem like a lot, but this is rated one of the most reliable, quiet, and best performing storage drives on the market. See Newegg reviews and drive benchmark scores.

Note that an SSD will give faster performance, and a 7200rpm hard drive is capable of faster random access to lots of small files than this 5400rpm drive would. This drive is really designed to store a lot of files like a music/video/media repository or for backups, but its 8.9ms seek time will do reasonably well for an operating system or a database. Surprisingly, its benchmark score is similar to a Western Digital Black (WD1002FAEX model) drive which costs around the same. Also note that this is a regular Serial-ATA (SATA2) drive, and newer Serial-ATA 6Gbps (SATA3) drives are available and will give faster performance if you have a computer with SATA3 compatibility.

A similar deal, a Western Digital 3TB Hard Drive deal is still available through today from Newegg at $170 with code EMCNHNH33 ($0.057/GB). Much cheaper per GB, but its reviews and benchmarks are not as good as the Samsung. Also some Serial-ATA controllers and USB enclosures/docks cannot support 3TB drives or any drive larger than 2TB. SATA3 and USB3.0 can support 3TB.

For laptop computers, Newegg is selling a Samsung 1TB 2.5" Laptop Drive for $100 with code EMCNHNH34 through today ($0.10/GB).

LG 50-inch Plasma 1080p 600Hz HDTV (model 50PV450) for $900 with free delivery, and code 24HRSALE28M applies $150 off in the cart. This model is a year old (released in January, 2011) and has mostly good reviews. Detailed specs on LG.com.

Note that a Plasma TV like this has two potential issues. First, its screen is susceptible to burn-in, so it's not good for use with a game console system, computer, when leaving a DVR paused for a while, or anything which keeps an image on the screen long enough for it to be burned-in to the pixels. Second, plasmas have a glass screen (as opposed to plastic on an LCD) which creates glare. Treat it like a mirror, where a light source could reflect from the screen to your vision (like if the angle of viewing would reflect light from window or a light bulb), and glare will make the video difficult to see.

Sandisk Cruzer 32GB USB Flash Drive for $23 ($0.72/GB). Great deal for a 32GB USB Flash Drive, but the reviews are not as great as other flash drives. Probably not the best storage device for sensitive data, but seems like it would be great for temporary storage. In comparison, a Mushkin USB Flash Drive has amazing reviews but does cost more than twice per GB.

Compatible with laptop computers which have DDR3 memory compatibility of PC3-8500 or higher, and capable of 4GB memory per slot.
