Apparently Ed Schultz is now promoting voter fraud. Way to go Ed. If you dislike a party, then vote against them. Personally I prefer to vote for the politicians that supports my views, unless I have to pick from the lesser of two evils.

I moved in October to my new house and I called the usual people for Cable TV and Internet Service. I found out I was too far from the CO to get dsl, and AT&T's UVerse was not avaliable to me. I decided to give Comcast another try. I got service and was hooked up pretty quick, and had a working internet connection for, that was until Dec, 28 2008. At that time My Pix 501 could not route outside my network. I reset my firewall and lost my IP address totally now.

I recently got my hands on a Hauppage PVR-150 from NewEgg since I do not have a TV as of yet. It makes for a very good card in Linux. Setup of it was a bit of a pain. The drivers for ivtv did not want to build due to missing kernel options. The menuconfig for the kernel was not as clear as I would like as to what drivers I needed. I ended up just putting them at the end of the kernel configuration and a "make oldconfig".

Yes the title says it all. Ubuntu has no root user by default. Well at least that is what they tell there users. There root user is still there, just locked out with no password. Also, apparently there are some applications that don’t understand root after you enable it that or they need a password less root account. While this can be good for new users, it still introduces a unique position for many people and also it can make recovery of the system much harder.

Wow it looks like Skype did something really cool that will blow the pants off of using it. They are allowing free out going calls. That really kicks butt. I think I will have to try it out and see how well it works. That would really help out a lot of people save money on many things. If I didn’t have voip I know it would save me a lot of money!

This has ended. Skype is now selling outgoing VOIP minutes. With is had lasted longer but I can not complain. I used it while it was avaliable :D
